Again and again...

My heart breaks this morning. I'm so far away watching as a devastatingly powerful storm wreaks havoc in a city and state that has meant so much to my life, that has formed so much of who God has made me so far. I am feeling something that you would probably not be able to fully understand unless you had seen, had lived the devastation of hurricane Katrina almost exactly three years ago. My heart breaks for the people who are now facing the possibility of losing everything again, who don't know how long it will be before they can go home again.
Living in another country now, all I can do is pray and ask God to use this crisis to draw more people into his love. For those who have no hope, to be filled with the hope of Christ's salvation. For those who have no peace, to be filled with the only true peace by the prince of peace. For the Lord to replace the people's fear with trust in him.

"...God is our refuge and strength. A very present help in time of trouble."
Psalms 46:1

To all of our family and friends being affected by hurricane Gustav, know that we are thinking of you and praying for you with much love.
