Parentesis

At long last my parents graced us with their presence! Woo hooooo! We had some exciting adventures with them and some good rest as well. Both of them lead busy lives in the land of the INDY 500 and so time away in a tropical paradise was welcome, I'm sure. I've missed them dearly so having them around was a sweet treat. We started the week off in the best way possible. A birthday (being mine) and an anniversary (belonging to my parents) all on the same day. August 13th. Yeah, stinks for me right? Pretty much for most of my life my birthday consisted of a great celebration during the first half of the day while the second half my parents had eyes only for each other. Ha! No it wasn't that bad. They always gave me and my brothers the BEST birthday parties! Very creative. Anyways, this year we took the day pretty easy. We visited the project sight so they could have a vivid picture of what we do here and we hung out with the workers and the family that is in charge of the meals for the workers. We had lunch at our favorite pizza place where we are developing a friendship with the owners. Patricia, the owner's wife stopped by to get something and unknown to us gave instructions to the waiters that our bill was on the house! We were surprised and grateful for the sweet gesture. It's so cool to see how God has given us favor with the people here. Anyways, poor Jason was battling a cold flu so we chilled in the afternoon and topped the day off with dinner at one of the top restaurants in the world: Exotica. It is in the middle of nowhere and you have to have reservations to eat there but the food, the experience and the atmosphere is undeniably pleasant. Unfortunately that meal wasn't free but it was a lot of fun. We arranged for my parents to spend the night at a cabin belonging to some friends of ours here. I would be having no parent anniversary celebrations taking place under my roof. Smirk. The rest of the week we cooked together, laughed together, watched movies, toured some cool places, and just had a good ole' time. We took them on a mangrove river tour and got to see some exotic creatures, including some scarlet macaws. Mom, I know you are having a hard time remembering a lot of the terms so I wrote them for you here. No excuses now! Ahahah. We also went horseback riding through the jungle and on the beach. My horse's favorite thing to do apparently was gallop. I had merely to tap his side and he would take off at a full speed. At one point Jason's horse was galloping at a good distance from me and my horse decided it was a race. He shot off and actually caught up pretty fast. I felt like I was riding Sea Biscuit. We ended the week with a trip to the capital to do a little sight seeing. This time it was my turn to be sick and I wasn't able to do as much sight seeing but Jason was a dear and did the touring honors. Today life is quiet again. My parents are gone, the sun is shining brightly, and the glory of God is evident all around me. I am grateful for this past week and for the blessing of having parents who love God and have diligently sought to bring me and my brothers up in the knowledge of the saving grace of our Creator. Be blessed in this knowledge as well.
