Never mind, today was aweful...

Did I call it or what? I had a feeling things wouldn't go perfectly smoothly the whole time Jason was gone. It just couldn't. Haha. The short version? Luka and I both got sick with a cold flu and were both running fevers and weighed down with body aches. Bleeeeh. The first day I felt fine other than my nose running about as fast as our shower leaks. It dripped all day long and if I could have I would have just plugged my nostrils with toilet paper, but I didn't think the café customers would be very appreciative. When I picked Luka up that evening after closing, He was running a high fever and had wanted only to be held all day. Didn't want to play, didn't want to move. Just be held. Great. Here I am feeling like death and all Luka wants is to be held. But poor buddy. It was good that we were sick together because I at least knew exactly how he was feeling. So we snuggled a lot and I prayed a lot that the Lord would heal us quickly. Jason come hommme, was about all my brain could come up with.
Yesterday Luka was a little better but I just kept getting worse and worse and finally had to close early and sleep off the aches. Luka is perfectly fine now, thank God. I am still wheezing and hacking and sniffling but at least the aches are gone and my eyes don't look so racoonish.

So to think of happier things, I will share with you a frivolity. Things I would really never be able to buy but admire. Enjoy dreaming with me.

Our summers, well most of the year really, but especially our summers, are so hot here that a nice lightweight cotton dress is all I ever want to wear. Unfortunately, I am having a frustrating time finding any affordable ones that aren't so terribly short, for heavens' sake! Are you with me ladies?! I mean, I am a mother after all and have to bend over half the day to either pick up the Wee or the millions of things he drops during the day, and I don't exactly desire to reveal myself to the world. But the trend right now is super duper short. No thank you. Something like this simple green beauty, however, yes please. It's a handmade dress that I found at etsy.com

Or how about this cute thing?

And especially this one! Gaaaah! I love it!

A lovely little set of makeup by Paula Dorf.

This has got to be the most comfortable looking hammock I have ever seen. It's probably a good thing that I don't own one because I may never get off of it. A good book and a comfy hammock. Aaahhh.

How about pulling one of these lovelies out onto the beach? Or under the shade of a mango tree with a tall, cold glass of lemonade? Yes, and yes.

I can almost feel the softness of this creamy delight. B E A U T I F U L

Why I would even look at these considering they would sink in the mud the instant I left the porch is beyond me. But they're so pretty. Swoon!

And lastly, this shampoo (and its conditioner). It is bath and body works Eucalyptus and Spearmint shampoo and it is divine...my oh my is it nice.

My Love is coming home tonight and I am so excited!

Sarah, so sorry to hear that you are not feeling well!!! I hurt that you hurt. Mom is hurting, too. Did something to her knee and is limping around all over the place...knee swolen and ice packs every 2 hrs. or so. All this pain and sickness just makes me pray for the coming of the Lord even harder.

Now, on to a couple of points concerning your LaLaland dreaminess. Nice choices on the clothing, hammock etc. But there is one thing, no, two things in the clothing division that to this day I haven't figured out.

#1 Why do ladies wear high-heeled shoes that make them 5 inches taller, but hurt their feet, their backs, and make them walk all crooked and wobbly?

#2 Who invented neckties? They are the most ridiculous waste of time and fabric ever perpetrated on mankind. Totally pointless, except, of course, at the bottom of the tie. Otherwise, they are nothing more than headache makers, nooses, etc.

I believe if these two things completely disappeared from the face of the earth tomorrow, the world would be a much easier planet on which to live.

Now I know some of you ladies reading this will disagree to a certain extent, but let's face it: fashion is a big ripoff. Designer clothes are waaaaay overpriced, and aren't too much better than Target or K-Mart. Style is so overrated and costly. So, I'm with you, Sarah...a hammock and a nice, simple cotton ensemble. How silly would it look to settle down in a comfy hammock wearing high heels or a necktie? REALLY!!!

Maybe a little sick in the head,

Dad

Hey Dad. I'm sorry Momma is hurting too. I hope her knee heals quickly, especially before the wedding. It can't be fun to limp down the isle.

Why do women wear high heels? Because. If they are pretty heels that you can actually walk in (the problem is most women buy the wrong heel) there is little else in the wardrobe that can boost your confidence like a good pair of heels. You're tall. You're classic. You lift your chin a little higher. The click clack fills you with a sense of determination and purpose. That's why.

And as for the ties? Well, I think they are just leashes. = ]

And no, I am not a feminist. At all.
